How to Clean Poly Furniture in 5 Minutes Without Breaking a Sweat
Keep your poly furniture clean year after year with these simple steps
Nothing feels better than a sparkling clean patio ready for outdoor fun. But beyond preparing for a family BBQ, keeping your poly outdoor furniture clean helps prolong its lifespan and maintain its beautiful appearance.
Not sure how to go about cleaning your poly furniture? This blog outlines recommended methods for dealing with light dust, occasional dirt, and heavy grime.
FOR WHEN A LIGHT DUSTING WILL DO THE JOB
If you are looking to simply spruce up your outdoor patio space, a light dusting should do. Regularly dusting your poly furniture will help keep it looking bright and spotless.
For best results, try our preferred method of dusting:
- Fill a bucket with warm water and just a splash of dish soap.
- Using a soft brush or cloth, gently scrub the furniture. Start from the top and work your way down.
- Rinse thoroughly with a hose or a clean wet cloth.
- Towel or air dry.
Not only is poly furniture low maintenance, but it's also waterproof; perfect as pool furniture
BASIC STAIN REMOVAL
Occasionally more than a dusting is needed. Follow this tried and true method if you run into a situation (such as dirt, grease, or food stains) involving more elbow grease.
- Fill a bucket with one part bleach and three parts water. (don't worry, this won't affect the color!)
- Using gloves and moderate pressure, scrub the furniture from the top down.
- Rinse thoroughly with a hose or a clean wet cloth.
- Towel or air dry.

HEAVY-DUTY CLEANING
Suppose it's been a while since you've cleaned your poly outdoor furniture, and you're stuck with heavy layers of grime or grease. In that case, it may be necessary to perform a heavy-duty cleaning. We've found the best solution is to use a pressure washer. Pressure washers can be found in any big-box home improvement store and are very handy.
- Follow the instructions for your specific pressure washer carefully. They vary in power and settings.
- Using plain water and maintaining distance (this is very important), spray the furniture. Start on top and with a sweeping side to side motion, making your way down. Do not get too close the furniture, as the pressure could damage the poly.
- Towel or air dry.
